And yessss... we won the hurdles race! 🏆
Getting back to our Sunday rides had its own challenges. First and foremost — October weather is always a gamble. But hey, this time we got lucky. Secondly, we had to “creatively navigate” around a few roadblocks and those ever-popular trap stations set up by the authorities (all in the name of road safety, of course). But we managed! And so, a smooth ride it was!
We met at our usual hotspot in Mriehel at 9:30 sharp. Kettles always treats us well — and this time, we had a solid, chunky group of over 20 bikes, all gleaming and revving to go. After the usual pre-ride briefing from Oliver, our trusty Road Captain, we were off — heading North (which, I must admit, is my personal favourite direction).
Route: Mriehel > Rabat > Mosta > Mgarr > Xemxija > Mellieha > Church Square in Mellieha.
A clean 25 km ride — no drama, no detours — just a classic, enjoyable H.O.G. group run.

Now, parking the bikes at Mellieha square was a bit of a puzzle (timing our arrival with the end of morning mass probably wasn’t our most tactical move), but hey — we made it work. We found a prime chill spot at the bar of Societa Filarmonika La Vittoria, and settled in for our well-deserved fix of coffee, beer, and pastizzi. No complaints there.
As always, the coffee stop became a full-blown planning session. There’s a jam-packed activity calendar lined up until the end of the year — and we’re all buzzing for it. Next weekend, we kick off Garage Saturdays. Then there's the Fat Boy Run (definitely one to remember), the Charity Ride, the Family Outing, the Christmas Do... and probably a few more we’ll invent just for fun. We like to keep ourselves busy, you know!

Before we knew it, it was around noon, and the pack started gearing up to head home. Another ride done, more memories made, and all eyes now set on next weekend’s Fat Boy event. Can’t wait!
Ride safe, ride loud, and see you on the road.
