Riding Through the Heat with La Valette Malta

Summer is in full swing, and with temperatures hitting over 34 degrees, riding a V-twin feels like sitting on a furnace. The heat may be intense, but that hasn’t stopped us at La Valette Malta from doing what we love—getting on the road, enjoying time together, and making unforgettable memories.
Despite Saturday being a public holiday, the group spirit remained strong. Some of us met early for a ride toward the north of the island, soaking in the open road before cooling off with a cold beer. Later in the day, another group gathered at Amuri Restaurant in Attard for coffee and pizza. It wasn’t just about food—it was a chance to discuss the final details for the upcoming Croatia trip. The excitement was building, knowing that in just a few days, some of our members would be riding through stunning landscapes toward one of the main Harley-Davidson gatherings in Europe, the European HOG Rally 2025.
For a few riders, the adventure had already begun. Five of our members set off early, catching the ferry to Genoa before embarking on a breathtaking ride through the Alps on their way to Medulin, Croatia, for the much-anticipated HOG Rally. Another group is gearing up to depart on Tuesday, ensuring that La Valette Malta will have a strong presence at the event.
Sunday’s ride was another great one, even with the rising temperatures. Over 22 Harleys gathered at Kettles Mriehel, where we took refuge inside, cooling down with drinks while catching up with each other. As always, Captain Silvio Caruana gave the signal to gear up, and we hit the road.
Our route took us through Rabat, Buskett, Dingli, the outskirts of Siggiewi, and Wied iz-Zurrieq, before reaching Il-Gibjun in Zurrieq for a well-earned break. The 45-minute ride was smooth and scenic, but there was no escaping the heat radiating from the engines. By the time we stopped, we all appreciated the chance to relax, chat, and enjoy a cold drink together.
Recognizing the challenges of riding in high temperatures, we held a poll among our members to decide on a summer schedule. The overwhelming choice was to transition to sunset rides earlier than planned. This way, we can enjoy cooler evenings while still making the most of our time on the road together.
At La Valette Malta, riding isn’t just a hobby—it’s a way of life. No matter the season, we stay committed to our passion, ensuring that we meet up, share great rides, and strengthen the bonds that make our group special.
As our fellow members head to Croatia, we send them off with best wishes for an amazing trip. They’ll experience stunning roads, unforgettable moments, and plenty of stories to bring back and share.
Whatever the weather, whatever the season—we ride on!
