La Valette Malta – A Weekend of Surprises!

The last weekend of May didn’t go as planned. Our monthly ride to Gozo had to be cancelled due to forecasts of strong winds and heavy rain. While this was disappointing, the weekend still brought unforgettable moments for the La Valette Malta group.

A Celebration to Remember

Saturday turned into a special occasion as we gathered for a surprise party celebrating the 50th birthday of our group manager, Adrian Vella. Organized by his wife, the celebration brought us together for an evening of laughter, great company, and shared memories. It was the perfect way to kick off the weekend.

Riding for a Cause

Despite the Gozo trip being postponed, Sunday’s weather wasn’t as severe as expected. Determined to make the most of the day, we decided to join the charity ride for Embrace Diversity Foundation, organized by Skulls Bikers Malta SMC. Embrace Diversity is an organization that supports children and young people with disabilities, providing activity centers designed to help them develop essential communication and skills through interactive play.

At 9 AM, we met at our usual spot, The Kettles cafeteria in Mrieħel, ready for the ride. Even after a long night of celebrations and lingering chances of rain, our group showed up, proving once again our dedication to riding and supporting great causes. By 9:20 AM, our leader, Silvio Caruana, delivered a short briefing, and soon after, the 20 Harleys were on the road, all nicely staggered, heading toward Pembroke.

Upon arrival, we met other bikers ready to participate. We spent time chatting, enjoyed another coffee, and captured the moment with group photos. By 10 AM, the ride officially began, taking us through St. Julian’s, Marsa Flyover, Bulebel, and finally to Marsascala’s Żonqor Point—the Skulls Clubhouse.

Surprisingly, the skies remained clear, reminding us that despite modern weather forecasts, nature always has its own plans. We spent time together, mingled with other bikers, admiring the bikes that were all parked nicely outside the clubhouse, appreciating the opportunity to contribute to a meaningful cause.

By noon, members started heading home, while others stayed in smaller groups for lunch and a relaxed afternoon. With the bikes parked and another successful weekend behind us, we set our sights on our second attempt at Gozo. Hopefully, this time, the weather will be on our side, allowing us to fully enjoy the ride, the food, and the strong bond that makes the La Valette Malta Harley group so special.
