Riding, Friendship & Celebration

Saturday brought another thrilling chapter in the Island to Island event. As the sun rose on a perfect day—clear skies and a gentle breeze—local riders gathered at Luxol Grounds, eager for a full schedule of riding and camaraderie. By 9:30 AM, road captains met the visiting riders at the Vivaldi Hotel, leading them to Luxol where warm horn greetings signaled reunions among friends.

Our ride took us through Rabat, Buskett, Dingli Cliffs, and Siggiewi before pausing at Il-Maqluba, a striking natural sinkhole in Malta. After capturing the moment with photos and taking in the scenery, we continued through Mqabba, Luqa, Zejtun, Marsascala, and Zabbar, finally arriving at Dock 1 in Cospicua.

There, we parked our Harleys in front of the American University building and settled into a nearby café—owned by one of our members—for snacks and cold drinks. The afternoon sun was strong, but with shade, refreshments, and a specially prepared cake, the break turned into a memorable moment of relaxation.

While some riders opted for a short ferry ride to Valletta, others stayed behind for a quiet afternoon. In Valletta, we admired the panoramic views from Upper Barrakka Gardens, strolled through the charming streets, and snapped photos beside the statue of Grand Master La Valette. A highlight of our visit was St. John's Co-Cathedral, a magnificent masterpiece of Baroque architecture. Stepping inside, we marveled at its ornate interior, adorned with intricate marble tombstones, grand paintings, and gilded decorations. The awe-inspiring beauty of Caravaggio's renowned artwork made the visit even more special, offering a moment of admiration.

Others took a scenic train tour, enjoying a laid-back exploration of the city.

At 4 PM, we regrouped at Upper Barrakka Gardens to witness the traditional cannon salute—an iconic Maltese ritual. Afterward, we took the ferry back to Cospicua and made our way to the hotel to prepare for the evening’s celebration.

Saturday Night Celebration

By 8 PM, the Vivaldi Hotel’s hall was transformed, adorned with Harley-Davidson banners, setting the stage for an unforgettable evening. Riders mingled, exchanging stories from the weekend while live rock music filled the air. At 8:30 PM, the buffet opened, and guests enjoyed great food as the band played.

The music briefly paused for heartfelt speeches from group leaders, including Silvio Caruana, alongside representatives from the Etna and Duemari chapters. Words of appreciation echoed through the room, met with cheers of gratitude and excitement.

As the night carried on, the atmosphere turned electric. Riders and guests hit the dance floor, but the party truly ignited when Horace, one of our members, grabbed the microphone and joined the band. His distinctive raspy voice stunned the crowd, delivering two unforgettable songs that had everyone cheering. His performance was an unexpected highlight, adding even more magic to the night.

To mark the occasion, the official event cake was cut—a symbolic end to an incredible day. Before saying our goodbyes, we made sure to extend special thanks to the Duemari members, who, due to a technical issue with one of their bikes, had to leave earlier than expected for their six-hour ride back to Calabria.

It was a day filled with exhilarating rides, fantastic company, delicious food, and rock music—setting the perfect tone for Sunday’s grand finale.
