A Calm Weekend Ride with La Valette Malta

Winter has not really arrived in Malta yet. After missing a weekend of rides and a whole week of rain, the sunny sky on Saturday made us all excited to check our bikes and get ready for Sunday. While our friends were enjoying the Inverno weekend in Salerno, we in Malta decided to take things slower. But for us, a “calm weekend” still means meeting on Sunday, having coffee, and riding together. The place we go is not so important—it’s the ride and the company that matter.

On Sunday morning, by 9 a.m., Harleys started arriving in Mrieħel. Smiles were everywhere as we met for coffee. Soon, clouds began to gather from the north, and photos online showed rain falling there. But when we looked south, the sky was still bright with patches of blue. So, without wasting time, we changed our plan and rode south instead.

Eighteen Harleys set off together, passing through the Ħamrun bypass with light rain following us. We rode on through Ħal Far and Birżebbuġa, finally stopping in Għaxaq. In the quiet village square, we parked our bikes nicely and we were soon all set at the Bocci Club, where the host served us drinks along with freshly prepared hobz biz zejt and other nibbles!!! and that is all we needed to close our morning together. Sitting together, we talked about our busy December schedule—the parties coming up and the ladies wondering what to wear for all the events.

It turned out to be a lovely weekend. We missed our friends who were riding in Italy, but we know we’ll soon meet again for a long weekend full of fun, rides, and celebrations. That will close our official events for 2025 and start us thinking about 2026.
