HOG Hearts, Children's Smiles

After months of planning, fundraising, and countless hours of hard work by our amazing LOH (seriously, you make us all proud!), the big charity weekend finally arrived.
But let’s take it step by step.
Saturday was pure fun. A solid group of us met at WKD to prepare the San Martin bags. Massive thanks to our generous sponsors—Alfsons, Christian Micallef, Maypole, Sottozero, Cala Lido and Keys Pub. Without your contributions, none of this would have been possible. You rock—full throttle, no brakes!

WKD was buzzing: bikes rumbling, people laughing, and that kind of chaotic excitement that only comes when you’re doing something genuinely good.
Once the bags were ready, some of us headed out for the usual Saturday spin. Sandro Bonnici led the way to Mgarr, down the Coast Road, and straight to our favourite Luqa café stop… because let’s face it, what’s a Saturday without a ride and a coffee?
Sunday… well, Sunday was special. Even the weather gods decided to do their part. When you’re out to help others, the stars tend to line up—even the stubborn ones.

Early meet-up at Kettles, who even provided us with pastizzi to make sure we didn't start our day with stomachs grumbling and this time we had the honour of Carmelo (Director) and Cinzia (Activities Officer) from Etna Chapter joining us. Not only did Etna contribute a generous €500 donation, but their Director and Activities Officer also made a nice personal donation. Your participation on and off the road is just amazing. Respect!
Coffee at Kettles, engines warming up, spirits high. Three dozen bikes, two LESA officers, and one delivery vehicle. The dream team was assembled.
The ride was smooth and perfectly led by Silvio and Sandro Bonnici, with support from our Road Captains Chris Bezzina, Frank Camilleri, and Oliver Cassar. A huge thank-you to LESA for once again supporting us free of charge for a good cause. Legends.
A big shout out also to Felix and Trudy. Your backing is up during the ride by car was essential.
And a special mention to our Head Road Captain on his last official run—thank you, Sandro. You’ve been an inspiration for years. We know your work as Safety Officer will continue to raise the bar.
The run itself? Smooth as silk. And let’s be honest—riding without stopping at traffic lights? Heavenly.
Smiles were delivered at:
St Joseph, Santa Venera
Fondazzjoni Sebħ, Hamrun
Centru San Frangisk, Hamrun
St Angela, Gwardamangia
FM Ferretti, Birżebbuġa
St Theresa Home, Żurrieq
A total of 120 smiles created. And yes—good deeds really do make you feel good too!
Was that enough? Of course not. With La Valette, it’s never enough.
After the ride, over forty of us gathered for a Family Day at Scicluna Farmhouse in Gudja. Relaxed atmosphere, Maltese food, laughter, and one very big feel-good factor. Without the ongoing support of our members, without the community feeling of our group, none of this would be possible, not even in our wildest dreams.
Yes this is La Valette.
Yes, we ride.
Yes, we create smiles.
Yes, we rock.

First of all, I would like to take the opportunity to thank the La Valette Committee for believing in me and entrusting me with the role of Head Road Captain. My goal has always been to keep this group active and growing year after year. I truly hope that whoever steps into this position, will give his100%, just as I did, to continue strengthening and advancing our group.
I will continue serving as Safety Officer, ensuring we keep practicing our skills and manoeuvres while riding as a group, always following the HOG Charter guidelines to stay safe on the road especially when riding abroad.
🙏
See you on the road 🤙
