Victory Day Ride with La Valette Malta

On the 8th of September, many countries in Europe celebrate a religious feast, and in Malta, the day is also known as Victory Day, marking the Great Siege when the Maltese fought off the Ottoman Empire. This year, the holiday fell on a Monday, giving us at La Valette Malta the perfect reason to extend the weekend and enjoy a night ride together. As the days are getting shorter and the sun sets earlier, we can’t really call it a sunset ride anymore—but that didn’t stop over 25 members and more than 20 bikes from meeting at our usual spot at The Kettles in Mrieħel.

Around 8 PM, our Road Captain Oliver Cassar gave the route briefing, and with our Road Captain Felix staying at the back as our 'sweeper' , we set off smoothly through Rabat, Żebbieħ, Għajn Tuffieħa, and Manikata, heading all the way to Armier Bay. The area was quieter than usual, and the restaurant named Victoria was closed—probably because the owners were enjoying the Mellieħa festa.

We adjusted our plans, grabbed a drink at a nearby kiosk, and spent some time chatting and relaxing. Later, we rode back toward the center and stopped at Għargħur McDonald’s for a light bite. Some headed straight home, while others stayed for a burger or dessert to end the long weekend on a high note with sugars and some carbs.

It was another great ride with La Valette Malta, keeping true to our motto: “We ride as one with pride wherever we go.” With our trip to Calabria just two weeks away, the excitement is building—but until then, we’ll keep enjoying every ride together on our rock.
