After a stormy week, the weekend finally arrived, and we couldn’t have been more excited. Heavy rain and strong winds hit the island on Thursday and Friday, but by Saturday, the weather started to improve. Although it remained cloudy with some drizzle in parts of Malta, it didn’t stop us from gathering at the WKD showroom as always, catching up over coffee and discussing our shared passion for motorcycles.
In the afternoon, some of us met at a café to go over the itinerary for our upcoming Croatia trip in June. The anticipation is building, and now that it’s only a few weeks away, we’re counting down the days!
Sunday: Ride Day with a Purpose
On Sunday morning, the much-awaited Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride (DGR) finally arrived. By 8 AM, we started gathering at our usual spot, The Kettles, Mrieħel, dressed sharply and ready for the ride. This event is special to us—not only do we get to enjoy riding together, but we also contribute to a global cause, raising awareness for men’s health and prostate cancer research.

At 8:15 AM, our road captains called us to saddle up, and we rolled out together toward Mosta Square, where the official DGR ride was set to begin. As we arrived in front of the Mosta Church, we were greeted by a fantastic sight—motorcycles of all styles and brands lined up, with riders all dressed smartly for the occasion.

We parked our bikes and headed to a nearby café, mingling with fellow bikers and catching up with familiar faces. Soon, the event organizers gathered everyone for the official launch of the ride, reminding us of its purpose—raising awareness for men’s health—before explaining the route ahead. Excitement filled the air as we made our way back to our bikes, ready to set off.
Engines roared to life, and we set off in a long procession, riding through Rabat, Attard, Mrieħel, St. Julian’s, and Coast Road, before arriving at Aquarium Square. Seeing the square filled with so many beautifully maintained motorcycles was a sight to behold—representing a mix of groups, styles, and brands, all gathered for a common cause.

With the sun shining, we took a break to cool down with a drink, take photos, and soak in the atmosphere. Some of us spent time chatting with other riders, sharing stories, and admiring the variety of bikes present.

After enjoying the gathering at Aquarium Square, we decided to extend the ride a little longer, heading towards Rabat to enjoy the roads and the fantastic weather before lunchtime.
A Perfect End to a Great Day

By noon, some of our members headed home to spend time with their families, while the rest of us continued to Verdi Hotel’s Olea Restaurant, where a buffet lunch awaited us on the terrace overlooking St. Julian’s Bay.
With our bikes parked neatly at the entrance, we settled in for a great meal—enjoying a variety of dishes, sharing laughs, and reflecting on yet another fantastic weekend together. Riding, good food, and great company—what more could we ask for?
With the DGR ride behind us, we’re now looking forward to our next event—a ride to Gozo next weekend! More time on the road, great conversations, and, of course, delicious food along the way.
