Q: What sparked your passion for motorcycles models, and how did it lead you to where you are today?
A: It all started 16 years ago when I was on holiday with my family. While everyone else was shopping, I stumbled upon a motorcycle shop that caught my eye. I wasn't looking for anything specific, but something about the shop drew me in. That's where I saw my beloved Harley 883 diecast model hanging behind the counter. I was immediately drawn to it and bought it on the spot. It was like I was a six-year-old kid again, and it sparked something within me.
Q: What happened next? How did your interest in motorcycles models evolve?
A: I took the model home and left it standing there, but I couldn't resist the urge to tinker with it. I had some free time one day, and being someone who can't sit still, I decided to dismantle the model and try to customize it to match my real bike. It took about 5 hours, and let's just say I got a bit too familiar with superglue, but the end result was amazing. That experience ignited a passion in me, and I started collecting more models.
Q: That's fascinating! Can you tell us more about your collection? How did it grow over time?
A: I couldn't leave that first model standing alone, so I bought a small showcase and added more models to it. Before I knew it, I had around 500 different models, including Vespas, Japanese bikes, and of course, my favourites - three shelves of Harley Davidsons. It's become a bit of an obsession, but I love every minute of it!
Q: That's an incredible collection! What drives your passion for collecting these models, and what do you enjoy most about it?
A: I think it's the combination of nostalgia and the joy of customization. I love reliving the memory of that first model and seeing how far my collection has come. It's also a great way for me to express my creativity and connect with my love for motorcycles on a deeper level.
Q: Looking back, do you have a favourite memory or moment that stands out to you from your journey as a collector?
A: Definitely the first time I customized that Harley 883 model. It was a moment of pure creativity and experimentation, and it set the tone for everything that followed. It's amazing to think about how that one moment sparked a passion that has stayed with me for 16 years. And I plan to keep growing it with the help of my son who is also into bikes despite his young age!
